Itinerary

From Dar es Salaam to Selous, your guide will pick you up at your hotel, airport, or ferry for a safari briefing before driving south to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park), a journey of approximately five and a half hours. Upon arrival, you’ll have lunch and then embark on an afternoon boat safari along the Rufiji River. During the boat safari, you’ll encounter aquatic wildlife such as hippos and crocodiles, numerous bird species, and animals like elephants and giraffes coming to drink at the river. Conclude your day with a stunning sunset over the river-flooded plains. You'll spend the night at Selous Mloka Safaris Lodge on a full-board basis.

You’ll enjoy a full day of game driving in the park, with a safari guide highlighting rare species such as wild dogs, sable antelopes, black rhinos, Nile crocodiles, and hippos along the Rufiji River banks. Expect to see Cape buffalos, hartebeests, and elands. A picnic lunch and drinks will be provided in the wilderness before returning to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast at the camp, you'll embark on a sunrise bush walking safari. This is an excellent way to connect with nature and learn about the smaller species and the bush itself. The walk, lasting about 2-3 hours, provides a memorable experience in the vast, untamed reserve. Typically, walks depart between 6:00 am and 6:30 am, following a cup of tea and homemade biscuits or doughnuts. After the walk, you'll drive back to Dar es Salaam.
